Silla de ruedas (Wheelchair)

Esta semana me di a la tarea de investigar sobre que silla de ruedas es la mejor para una persona con AMC,  pero es que sin duda este tema es tan amplio que no terminaría de hablar de él pronto, así que pregunte no solo a personas con AMC, sino también a cualquier persona que utilizara una silla de ruedas como le funcionaba, y la verdad es sin duda  admirable el esfuerzo que una perdosona en  una silla de ruedas requiere.

Yo no la necesito, uso aparatos ortopédicos de la rodilla hacia abajo, y lo primero que hablare es de mi experiencia bueno mis aparatos ortopédicos son de una especie de plástico, una ventaja es que me da mucha más firmeza a la hora de caminar, y aunque en casa trato de no usarlos la verdad es que al salir a la calle prefiero utilizarlos. En tiempo de calor y miren que en el lugar que vivo es extremoso bueno en esta temporada el cuidado que les doy es poner mucho talco para evitar irritaciones en la piel porque sudan mucho y provoca mucho calor. Se me hinchan los pies y arden un poco y si mis pies se sienten más cansados.

En tiempo de frió son muy fríos y se siente incómodo, pero creo que aun es más tolerable sobrellevarlos en invierno.  Esto es un poquito lo que tengo que contarles acerca de los aparatos ortopédicos  si los recomiendo para terrenos irregulares como donde yo vivo. Pero bien pasemos al tema importante las sillas de ruedas y lo que aprendí;

Debo de decirles que no conozco nada de ellas y que si es tu primera vez familiarizándote con una silla de ruedas, o algún ser querido tuyo empezara a hacer uso de ella aprenderemos juntos sobre esto.

Preguntas que te aras:

¿Debo elegir la silla con la rueda trasera grande o pequeña?

Si aunque no lo creas debes de preguntarte esto las ruedas son importantes!!!

A las personas que les pregunte que fueron más de 5 con diferente condición de discapacidad, me comentaron que lo mejor es comprar silla de ruedas a la medida, ojo a todos los que les pregunte ninguno de ellos tiene silla de ruedas a la medida ya que son muy costosas. Así que es una gran inversión para tu comodidad pero si es costosa y difícil de conseguir.

 ¿Será más adecuado comprarla de aluminio o acero? 

La ventaja del aluminio es su ligereza, y  la ventaja del acero es su resistencia digamos que son materiales opuestos.

Que cuidados tiene tu silla de ruedas?

Solo una persona me comento que le daba mantenimiento a las ruedas con aceite, y que guardaba piezas de sillas antiguas para poder reparar la que tiene, otra persona que me comento lo dificil que es andar en silla si hay fango cerca así que prefiere evitar eso.

Ruedas que tienen que ver?

Rueda trasera grande o pequeña, es decir, si tiene fuerzas en los brazos para poder desplazarse a sí mismo sin necesidad de la ayuda de un tercero. Si la persona busca su propia autonomía la elección será sin duda la rueda trasera grande, en caso contrario, elegiremos la rueda trasera pequeña.

Qué tipo de material?

Acero: Es el material más robusto, pero por contra el más pesado. Los pesos de estas sillas oscilan entre los 19 y 21 kg.

Acero Ligero: Es al igual que el anterior ligero, pero se usa un grosor menor de tubo, por lo que el peso se reduce manteniendo unas prestaciones de resistencia similares a las tradicionales. Los pesos oscilan entre los 15 y los 17 kg.

Aluminio: El aluminio es el más ligero de los tres, presenta la principal característica de que a la hora de trasladar la silla de un sitio a otro el proceso se realiza de forma cómoda dado que los pesos de estas sillas se encuentran entre los 9 y los 12 kg.

Le as añadido alguna adaptación a tu silla de ruedas?

Todas las personas con las cuales converse me comentaron que lo que más le añaden son cojines por para que este más confortable.

Que tan difícil es el traslado en la silla de ruedas?

Para las personas amputadas o con  distrofia muscular es mas difícil, y muchas veces necesitan ayuda para desplazarse otras personas con amc también necesitan apoyo para poder desplazarse lo mejor sería tener una silla eléctrica en estos casos.

En conclusión lo que más me sorprendió es que personas con discapacidad adquirida o que tienen nacieron con alguna discapacidad la mayoría sus hogares no están adaptados para que puedan desplazarse con facilidad imagina que en tu propio hogar no pudieras sentirte independiente, si bien el entorno exterior es muy difícil.  Falta mucho por hacer y es desde nuestros hogares donde más se debe de trabajar con la concientización de nuestros propios seres queridos, no es reclamar es crear juntos nuestro propio espacio, si tienes un hijo con discapacidad busca de adaptar lo que en tus manos sea posible para que sea lo más independiente y auto suficiente posible.

De verdad que hay tanto por hacer y esta situación me muestra solamente lo mal que estamos como sociedad, y la frustración de ver a amigos y personas que conozco, con tanto potencial siendo desperdiciado por algo que puede tener solución.
